Today’s topic comes from a conversation I had with an Airman today regarding another Airman lying to his Commander…
So, the story I’ve been told is; this particular Airman got pulled over/stopped by a Commander and was asked for is name and was basically told to follow proper procedures for what he was doing and to make sure he had all the proper paperwork in order…well….
Turns out the Commander who stopped his Airman was actually his Commander and the Airman lied and told the Commander a fake name. The commander took the Airman’s license plate number without the Airman knowing so he could have Security Forces run the information to make sure everything was in order. Long story short, when the Commander contracted SF to run the plate number, it showed the persons REAL name and squadron…so now the Commander knows his own Airman lied to him for no reason…
So, my thoughts;
First of all, why…from what I understand the Airman had nothing on his record other than maybe not the having the proper paperwork, so why lie to YOUR Commander?
Second, Did you not think the Commander was going to find out? I get maybe he didn’t know that the Commander took his plate number but come on, Im sure he would have recognized you at work at some point.
It makes me wonder sometimes how some of these Airman even got past BMT or Tech school. Isn’t it integrity first? It sure doesn’t seem that way. Sometimes, the actions of these Airman’s, NCO’s and SNCO’s make me ashamed to be associated with the Air Force..It shouldn’t be that way.
